This week we got the biopsy results from the mastectomy. There was good news and bad news. The good news is that there was no cancer in the three sentential lymph nodes. The bad news is that there were "microscopic" cancer cells left inside my chest under my arm. The cancer mass measured 14 centimeters by 4 1/2 centimeters (5 1/2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches thick.) Pretty much my whole breast was cancer cells. I talked with three different doctors about the remaining cancer cells on my side. None of the doctors thought that anything more could be done to get those cancer cells surgically. We'll have to rely on chemo and radiation to do that work.
Dr. Haslam said my cancer is considered stage IIB.
